The Number Of Countries With Over 1GW Solar Capacity Will Increase To 13 Dec 01, 2017

China, the USA, India, Japan, Germany, France, Australia, and South Korea will deploy more than 1 GW of solar capacity in 2017. And the number of countries whose solar capacity are more than 1GW will increase to 13.

GTM research observed that the European market will recover, and the needs will go up to 30% compared with 2017. Among these, Spain will be at the forefront of positive trends as its solar market is expected to soar from 40MW to 1.4 GW.

As Tom Heggarty, a senior solar analyst from GTM research put it, the European market is entering a sustainable phase, on account of the fact that it is moving toward an unsubsidized market, which is no longer influenced by the charge of the policy of subsidies for on-grid electricity.

In addition, Egypt's solar capacity is estimated to add fivefold to 1.4 GW from 2017 to 2018. Many projects in the country have been well financed at present, thanks to the loan from the International Development Bank Financing Alliance led by EBRD and IFC.

Next year is also anticipated to see the strong growth in Latin America. The demand for solar energy will augment double led by Mexico and Brazil.

On the whole, GTM research noted that about 606 GW of solar capacity will be deployed worldwide during 2017 to 2022.
